Navaratri

Today is the first day of Navaratri, a first day of festivals, dance and fast for next 10 days.

The word "Navaratri", a conjunction of two words "nava" (meaning "nine") and "ratri" (meaning "night"), literally means "nine nights". Sharad Navratri is the foremost of the Navratri festivals. Celebrated during the Hindu Sharad season (September-October), it celebrates the slaying of demon Mahishasura by Goddess Durga. Sharad Navratri is observed for nine days and nine nights, with three days each for the worship of three different aspects of Mother Shakti - as Goddess Durga for the first three days, as Goddess Lakshmi for the next three days and as Goddess Saraswati for the final three days. Nine forms of Mother Shakti(the female form of power) - Durga, Bhadrakali, Jagadamba, Annapurna, Sarvamangala, Bhairavi, Chandika, Lalita, Bhavani and Mookambika - are worshipped during the Navratri. The forms worshipped differ from region to region. This nine days festival is essentially celebrated to worship Goddess and to commemorate the victory of good over evil, i.e bringing to an end the atrocities of Asuras (Evil) like Mahishasuran, Shumban, Nishumban, Madhukaidapan, Thumralochanan and Rakthabheejan. Dussehra – the festival that falls on the tenth day after Navratri (nine nights) is celebrated to rejoice the victory of God Rama over the ten-headed demon – Ravana.

COW URINE IN AYURVEDA

Gomutra is very effective on various ailments. Almost all-Vedic scriptures mentioned Gomutra as a sacred aombrosia of heaven that dispels all somatic & psychological pains of human beings. It had been used in native form i.e. as a drink.
Gomutra not only used to treat various disorders but also in many ceremonies. The five product of cow i.e. milk, curd, ghrita, mutra and dung (panchgavya) had been used in purifactory ceremonies.
The urine of man, cow, goat, sheep, buffalo, elephant, horse and camel have been described in Ayurveda for their medicinal properties. Urine of healthy cow should consider the best amongst these other animals. Although sufficient and detailed literature regarding Gomutra is not available yet their pharmacological properties are defined efficiently.
It has shool haran properties (B.P.Mutravarga 2) which is by far most common complain of the patient suffered with Vata-vyadhi.
It reduces sotha i.e. swelling. (S.S. 45/218) (B.P. Mutra varga 2)
It has kandughana properties thus reduces itching. (B.P. Mutravarga 2)
Sushruta has specially mentioned the kshara properties of gomutra. Which are broadly using in ano rectal disorder like piles, fistula etc.(S.S. 45/218)
Due to slightly madhur rasa (C.S. 1/120), it supposed to have some ropan guna for wounds healing.
It also has lekhan and bhedan guna which are necessary for contaminated and non-healing wounds.
It is easily available and cost effective.

GOMUTRA is very effective medicine in-
Aanaha-Tympanitis
Kilas-Leucoderma
Kustha- Leprosy
Pandu, Kamla-Jaundice
Kasa, swas- Respiratory infection
Atisara- Diarrhoea
Mukh roga, Akshi roga-ENT Disorders (Bhavprakash mutraverga 1-6)
medicinal properties: useful in liver disorders, heart, and skin and kidney diseases. It is also used in insomnia and anemia. It is beneficial in digestive disorders such as dyspepsia, anorexia, constipation, colic’s. Use of gomutra in otalgia relieves pain.

Historical anecdotes have said that drinking gomutra can prevent strokes and helps break down blood clots and scabs.

In 1954 G.W.Sobel isolated the enzymes in urine that the folklore claimed. He named it Urokinase and is now used in preparations to break up clots in heart diseases and prevention of strokes.

In cow urine, urea is the major component. Urea is commonly recognized as an effective antibacterial, antifungal & antiviral agent. The presence of urea in urine is the result of the body’s chemical balancing of sodium chloride and water ratio. When used on wounds, urea causes an osmotic imbalance that kills bacteria and fungus. It is used in many topical ointments and creams. Urea is also found in broad range of medicines used to treat inflammation. It is the main ingredient in the medicine Herpigon, used to treat herpes infection.

Cow urine distillate has been found to enhance the effect of antibiotics. It increases the efficiency of absorption of drugs thus reducing their dosage. This distillate has also been found to increase the activity of anticancer drug Taxol, which is extremely toxic. The dosage of these drugs can also be eventually reduced.

General dosage is 25ml (2 1/2 tola) at a time. Two times a day (Morning and evening) is 50 ml (5 tola). If taken more it cleanses intestines and more motion takes place. It is harmless, as there is no poison. In general small quantity should be taken, Half the general dose.

Herbal Medicine and Heavy Metal Toxicity

Dear Friend its a popular saying in Classical Texts of Ayurveda in Sanskrit “Nanaushadhi Bhutam Jagatam Kinchid”, Means there is nothing in this world that is not Medicine. So go to a qualified practitioner before taking any medicine. Even food you take are good for some and harmful for others…..”Here Comes the role of Body Constitution {Prakriti}”. Fish or Pork or Reddish or even potato are good for some but for some they just don’t go…..!!!
Every one must know their own Prakriti and follow the diet pattern for healthy living.
As for Metals found in herbal drugs…. all food materials have minerals and metals present in them. There is no sign of metal poisoning found when only pure herbal medicine is being given in India. At least i after completing my Post Grads in Ayurveda and even doing PhD in Jaipur never ever heard that any herbal medicine caused arsenic poisoning to any patient. Yes there are sporadic cases of Metal Poisoning and that too when patients are taking Mineral/Metal Preparations named Ras Medicine and these Ras medicines are not properly manufactured as per the norms of AFI & GMP or not given as a standered prescription (Controlled Medication) as given by Quacks. Just diagnosing a mineral or metal in a plant don’t do justice to the research one has undertaken. Ask those media loving scientists what amount of minerals/metals are normally present in our body and also what is there toxic dose. even iron has a toxic dose and is gulped by every pregnant lady here in India so is Calcium….. See yourself on any search engine that even Iron can cause toxic symptoms. So does the Arsenic which can be easily found in Human Body and is about 10-20 mg. In one of the researchhttp://iospress.metapress.com/content/m2×11327177k4l14/ see that the ground water is main culprit of Arsenic in Body so is Rice a staple food...!!!
Then why Herbal Medicine only Steals the Show!!!

LIFE STYLE MANAGEMENT ACCORDING TO BODY CONSTITUTION

LIFE STYLE MANAGEMENT ACCORDING TO BODY CONSTITUTION

“Every individual is different from another and hence should be considered as a different entity. As many variations are there in the Universe, all are seen in Human being”…… Charak Samhita

Ayurvedic treatment is based on the ascertainment of individual constitution. This is the unique power of the system in that it treats the living individual as the most important factor. Ayurveda does not regard disease as a factor in itself but only as a complication of constitutional imbalance.

The predominance of elements, gunas and Doshas at the time of fertilization decides the constitution or bio-typology of the individual. Once this proportion is set it generally remains permanent for the lifetime of individual.

This Prikriti or physical constitution of an individual depends upon the following:

n condition of sperm and ovum at the time of conception.

n Nature of the season and the condition inside the uterus.

n Food & other regimens adopted by mother during pregnancy.

n Nature of the elements comprising the fetus.

In one scientific research, work was done to understand if there is any genetic basis to the ayurvedic concept of prakriti. It was postulated that human phenome based on prakriti, namely kapha, pitta and vata have genetic connotation that could help classifying human population based on broad phenotype clusters. According to ayurveda, every individual is different from another and hence should be considered as a different entity.

Ayurveda generally categorizes individuals in one of the three broad classes of ‘prakriti’ based on certain physical, physiological and psychological characters. This is independent of racial, ethnic or geographical considerations and may provide appropriate means of classifying phenotypes to be considered collectively for genotyping.

This is based on the permutations and combinations of the three Doshas, seven types of constitution can be formed:

n VATA

n PITTA

n KAPHA

n VATA-PITTA

n VATA-KAPHA

n PITTA-KAPHA

n SAMA PRIKRITI (balanced constitution)
